Marcy Flanagan, Children’s House Directress for Room 101, has been been teaching in Montessori education for over 10 years. She completed her training at Seton Montessori Institute in 2007, and has had the opportunity to work both in 3-6 and elementary classrooms. Marcy has a BA in Women’s Studies from The Ohio State University.

Megan O’Hehir, Children’s House Directress for Room 107, began working at Brickton in the summer camp program in 2004 as an assistant in the Lower Elementary program and in 2009 moved to assistant in the Children’s House program. Megan completed her Montessori training at Seton Montessori Institute, and her internship at Brickton Montessori, earning her AMS early childhood certification in 2013 and her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Northeastern Illinois University in 2014.

Kathy Hummel, Music
25 years at Brickton Montessori School
Kathy Hummel began teaching Music at Brickton in 1996. An accomplished musician, Kathy earned her Master’s Degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University and Orff Schulwerk certification from De Paul University. She has taught music in Montessori schools for over twenty years. Kathy provides music instruction using the Orff Schulwerk method for Toddlers, Children’s House and Elementary students. She also instructs the Elementary students in chorus and band. Kathy teaches flute and plays in the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra.
Liz Skrodzki, Reading Specialist

Liz Skrodzki serves as our Reading Specialist. A veteran educator of Language Arts, Liz has developed and taught educational programming at all levels. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching/Reading and has been nominated for the Golden Apple Award. Having directed Childrens’ Theater and worked at Goodman Theater, enjoys utilizing Reader’s Theater with Brickton Students.
