Erica Lane continues to bring her expertise to our Elementary program as the Upper Elementary directress. In 1997, Erica began her training at Brickton as a classroom assistant, then completed the AMS Elementary I & II certification. Erica holds a BA in Sociology and her K – 8 Elementary Teaching Certificate from Beloit College. In addition to her responsibilities as a 9-12 directress, Erica has also played a key role in the development of the Elementary curriculum and serves as both the Educational Coordinator and Diversity Coordinator for the school.
John Huber joined the Brickton community in spring 2009 as a classroom assistant. Since then he has worked with Children’s House, Upper and Lower Elementary, and Middle School students. He is currently the classroom assistant in the Upper Elementary classroom. John has a degree in Elementary Education from Knox College and taught in New Delhi, India, before coming to Brickton. He also teaches summer camp and adult music classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
Kathy Hummel began teaching Music at Brickton in 1996. An accomplished musician, Kathy earned her Master’s Degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University and Orff Schulwerk certification from De Paul University. She has taught music in Montessori schools for over twenty years. Kathy provides music instruction using the Orff Schulwerk method for Toddlers, Children’s House and Elementary students. She also instructs the Elementary students in chorus and band. Kathy teaches flute and plays in the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra.
Selena Brosnan graduated from Roosevelt University in 2001. After spending two years as an Intern at Brickton, she completed her Lower Elementary Montessori certification in 2014 from the Midwest Montessori Teachers Training Center. Selena enjoys art and has taught classes through the Young Rembrandts program. She currently teach art techniques to the Lower Elementary and runs a studio art class with the Upper Elementary.
Beth Peachey teaches Spanish for students from Children’s House through Middle School having joined Brickton in August 2012. Beth earned an education degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and is a certified K-12 teacher in Illinois. She spent four years teaching in Guatemala City with students of all ages, and has also taught preschool and elementary age students in Oberlin, OH, and with Chicago Public Schools. Beth is also an assistant for the Middle School program.
Tiffany Graham, Physical Education teacher, joined the Brickton staff in 2015. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and has been teaching PE for 2 years. Tiffany has also worked for the YMCA Metro Chicago in the Community Schools department managing programs for neighborhood schools and volunteered with Americorps in Washington, DC.
