Jen Cozad, Children’s House Directress for Room 103, joined Brickton in 2003 as an intern while completing her Montessori training in Silver Spring, Maryland at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies. Jen completed her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the University of Maryland – College Park.
Agnes Guerra began her Montessori career as a Brickton classroom assistant in 1997, earning her Montessori certification from the Midwest Teacher Training Center in 2000 when she became a Children’s House Directress. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University and a Master’s of Teaching Early Childhood from National Louis University.
Megan O’Hehir, Children’s House Directress for Room 107, began working at Brickton in the summer camp program in 2004 as an assistant in the Lower Elementary program and in 2009 moved to assistant in the Children’s House program. Megan completed her Montessori training at Seton Montessori Institute, and her internship at Brickton Montessori, earning her AMS early childhood certification in 2013 and her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Northeastern Illinois University in 2014.
Kathy Hummel began teaching Music at Brickton in 1996. An accomplished musician, Kathy earned her Master’s Degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University and Orff Schulwerk certification from De Paul University. She has taught music in Montessori schools for over twenty years. Kathy provides music instruction using the Orff Schulwerk method for Toddlers, Children’s House and Elementary students. She also instructs the Elementary students in chorus and band. Kathy teaches flute and plays in the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra.
Beth Peachey teaches Spanish for students from Children’s House through Middle School having joined Brickton in August 2012. Beth earned an education degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and is a certified K-12 teacher in Illinois. She spent four years teaching in Guatemala City with students of all ages, and has also taught preschool and elementary age students in Oberlin, OH, and with Chicago Public Schools. Beth is also an assistant for the Middle School program.
Liz Skrodzki serves as our Reading Specialist. A veteran educator of Language Arts, Liz has developed and taught educational programming at all levels. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching/Reading and has been nominated for the Golden Apple Award. Having directed Childrens’ Theater and worked at Goodman Theater, enjoys utilizing Reader’s Theater with Brickton Students.
